Trips

School trips form an important part of education at Bruton and greatly enhance the learning process

“We travelled from beach to beach measuring various vegetation and soil types, gradients and dune differences. Although the highlight was undoubtedly the tea and chips stop at lunch, the day was fun and actually quite educational! The excursions were thoroughly enjoyable and have assisted us greatly as we prepare for our examinations.” A Bruton School for Girls Sixth Form student describes a Geography field trip to the Dorset Coast. Just one of the many excursions and trips the students undertake to extend the learning beyond the classroom.

School trips form an important part of education at Bruton and greatly enhance the learning process. Bruton School for Girls is renowned for its academic success and this is achieved by providing the girls with every opportunity to broaden their horizons and look beyond the text books.

During the course of a school year, Art students will travel to the Tate Modern and Tate Britain.  History and Geography students visits museums such as the Natural History Museum and the V & A.  Biologists undertake field research and Physicists take part in the Engineering Education Scheme at Bristol University. Students of French can perfect their language skills in Paris and in Form 2 participate in a week-long visit to Burgundy. By attending drama and music productions in Bristol and London, Bruton students can see professionals at work on stage.

In the Preparatory School, girls benefit from visits to local attractions such as Montacute House, @Bristol science centre, The Mill on the Brue Outdoor Education Centre and Longleat Safari Park.

Bruton girls have travelled around the world to cities such as Athens, Berlin, Paris and New York whilst our sportswomen have travelled to Canada, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia on hockey and netball tours.  Sporting trips are also available to the Canary Islands and Austria.

Sixth Form students have also learnt to dive in Gozo and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity by building housing for poverty-stricken families in Tanzania.
