A Level Curriculum
Sixth Form students participate in a range of general studies and extra-curricular activities
In the Sixth Form a wide range of AS and A level courses are offered together with a selection of extension studies and extra-curricular activities to develop wider interests and skills.
Girls in the Sixth Form typically study three or four A level subjects but may be encouraged to take five courses from the options listed. Click on each subject for an overview of the course content and structure:

In addition to the A level curriculum, Sixth Form students participate in a range of general studies and extra-curricular activities including:
Advanced Certificate of Spoken English
All Lower Sixth students take part in an advanced level oral examination offered by the English Speaking Board.
Leiths Certificate in Food and Wine
A four-term course offered by the Leiths School for Food and Wine designed to teach the basic skills necessary to become a confident and efficient cook. Having completed the course not only will students be able to cook very competently but they will also be able to find employment during their school and university holidays. Find out more
Higher Education Preparation
All Sixth Form students benefit from the programme of events, lectures, mock interviews, visits by Old Girls and the use of our Careers Resource Centre to help them prepare for university, “gap years” and future employment.
Physical Education and Games
Sixth Formers participate in an afternoon games session. The girls follow a varied programme of Physical Education and Games. Students are able to participate in school teams in all the traditional sports or they can choose from a broad and balanced selection. The girls can learn a new sport such as tag rugby, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, trampolining, gymnastics, sports acro and yoga. They can also make extensive use of the fitness suite.
Extension Studies
Lessons dedicated to discussions on topics such as politics and money management.
Information Technology
ICT plays an important role in Sixth Form studies. The school is well equipped with ICT suites as well as computers within classroom areas and the boarding houses. The Sixth Form have access to computers in the Sixth Form study centre and may bring in their own or book out laptop computers for their work.
Photography
Students can join classes run by the Art department and improve their photography skills.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Students undertake Bronze, Silver or Gold levels and take part in expeditions, community service, skills and physical sections, hobbies and activities.
Gleam Team
Lower Sixth girls are able to join the “Gleam Team” which meets once per week after school to write, edit and assemble the annual School Magazine “The Gleam”.
Business Challenge
Students studying Business Studies or Economics are encouraged to participate in the Business Challenge scheme where they can develop their business skills through the creation, development and implementation of a company enterprise.
