GCSE Curriculum

The transition to secondary schooling can be a daunting step for some girls and our curriculum and pastoral systems are designed to develop confidence and a sound academic base

Girls are given plenty of time to settle in.  Setting for Maths and French starts in Form 1, extending to include Science and English in Form 3 and continuing for core subjects to GCSE.  We also operate a continuous screening programme to identify any learning difficulties that may require additional support from our Skills Development Unit.

In Form 1 girls study the following subjects:

In Forms 2 and 3 girls may add Spanish or German.

In Forms 4 and 5 GCSE courses are followed.  Compulsory subjects are English, English Literature, Mathematics and Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics taken either separately or as a double-award).  Normally, girls study 9 or 10 subjects.
