Prep Sport

All children are involved in a well-balanced programme of games, gymnastics and dance.

Our principal aim is to provide enjoyable activities to develop and refine children’s movement – running, jumping, throwing, catching, climbing, balancing, swinging, bending, skipping, twisting, turning.  Competitive sport is encouraged and older girls are involved in a schedule of matches and tournaments both within school and with teams from other schools.  A number of girls achieve success at county and national level. See our Sports Fixtures and Results page for information on current fixtures and recent results.

There are opportunities for development of personal qualities (self-confidence, control, initiative, decision-making, leadership) and attitudes (co-operation, team-spirit, respect for rules) as well as creative self-expression.

Netball and hockey are our winter games; athletics, rounders, tennis and swimming are offered in the summer term.  There are lunchtime and after-school activities and the girls have the opportunity to participate in activites such as horse-riding, indoor rowing and ballet.  The school's proximity to a local outdoor education centre enables older pupils to try different activities ranging from abseiling to high wires.
