Pastoral Care

We value every girl and her contribution to life at Bruton

Our pastoral care is second to none and every pupil from the Nursery and Pre-Prep through to the Sixth Form is known well and cared for according to her individual needs.

Pastoral care plays an important part in the children's welfare.  Members of staff build a relationship with pupils based on mutual trust and respect.  Pupils in the Pre-Prep and Prep classes are taught in form groups and matters of pastoral care, in the first instance, overseen by the form teacher who discusses them with the Head of the Preparatory School.  Any problem, however minor it may seem, is given due attention.

At Sunny Hill we encourage, teach and reward good work and appropriate attitudes and behaviour, based on consideration and respect for others.

A House system promotes healthy competition and school spirit. Each pupil belongs to a House (Earth, Wind or Fire) and sporting and other events are held throughout the year to enable the girls to represent their House. Points are awarded to Houses and an overall House Cup awarded at the end of the school year.

The school also has its own Medical Centre which is staffed by a qualified nursing Sister as well as a visiting Counsellor. The centre is also supported by the Bruton Surgery with its comprehensive medical care.
