Mr David Marsden
Originally from the Midlands, I started my teaching career in one of the largest comprehensives in Birmingham. I moved south to Somerset and settled on the family farm which gave me an unparalleled opportunity to mix teaching with running a small dairy herd.
I first taught at Sunny Hill in 1999 as a Senior Teacher specialising in science and was soon promoted to Head of Prep.
A man of the people, I like nothing better than meeting and greeting parents, chatting about their daughter and helping the girls realise their full potential. Still very much at the chalk-face with an avid interest in science, sport and early years.
I am keen to take advantage of our surroundings and introduce to Sunny Hill the Forest School approach to outdoor play and learning.
I have two daughters who both attended Sixth Form at Bruton and achieved outstanding results going on to study at Cambridge and Bristol Universities. Their success and fondness of their time at Bruton confirmed my faith in this wonderful school. Both girls are now in London following careers as a Chartered Surveyor and Lawyer. My wife, Audrey is the Head of Pre-Prep at The Downs School, Bristol.
When not at Sunny Hill I am a Magistrate and sit on the Mendip Bench and also enjoy sailing, field sports, tennis and the great outdoors.
An integral part of the Senior Management Team, I am helping to drive the school forward and share the vision with colleagues and governors.
