Bruton School for Girls provides international students with excellent opportunities to learn other languages, make friends and expand their knowledge and experience.
Dedicated members of staff ensure students are cared for from the day they arrive in a friendly atmosphere. Bruton School for Girls offers students the opportunity to experience all the best in British life and culture, as well as excellent academic courses.
International students are welcome to join Bruton School for Girls either in the Preparatory School from Year 4 (age 8), the Senior School from Form 1 (age 11) or the Sixth Form. We offer the opportunity to study in a school situated in the beautiful countryside of south-west England and surrounded by many historical and well known sites. The school is about two hours from London by train or car. It is easily reached from the major airports and also from the Channel ports.
Specialist staff in our English as a Foreign Language (EFL) department provide individual tuition to assist our international students to improve their English. During their time in the Senior School, it is likely that each international student will take at least two University of Cambridge ESOL exams. Because we are a small school, international students study alongside our English students and learn all their subjects in English.
Students entering the Sixth Form College will prepare for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, which is necessary for matriculation to university in most English speaking countries. Provision can also be made for preparation for alternative matriculation exams, such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (necessary for universities in the USA) should this be required.
International students joining Bruton School for Girls are expected to have a good standard of English and entrance tests require you to demonstrate your level of ability.
