The Early Years Foundation Stage
In the Nursery and Reception classes, children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Carefully planned activities and play help the children to enjoy learning in a happy and stimulating environment. Firm roots are put down for their development and education.
In our close-knit, caring environment pupils make smooth progress through their early years education and we seek to create a strong partnership between home and school. Our 'Early Years Learning Journeys' record the achievements of each child and at the end of the Reception year, these are summarised in the Foundation Stage profile, which all parents receive.
There are six areas of learning and development, as outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and all children work towards the “early learning goals”. They are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
