Sixth Formers Celebrate Leiths Success

Fourteen sixth form students at Bruton School for Girls have successfully completed the Leiths Certificate in Food and Wine.

The course is recognised nationally and, as well as producing high standards of cuisine, the students have learnt about taste, organising complicated menus and hospitality.

Lara Bradley, Rosie Bell, Olivia Crang, Louise Dubuisson, Kate Evans, Catherine Linney, Sophie Richardson, Penny Rice and Emily Williams passed the certificate. Four girls achieved a First Class pass: Lauren Baker, Kelin Chen, Charlotte March and Christy Tam. Harriet Sharp received a Distinction and was awarded a Leiths Cookery book in recognition of her achievement.

Headmaster, John Burrough, said ‘This is a great course, because the cooking is of such a high standard. We have found over the years that the girls who take the Leiths course never regret it. The skills it imparts are so valuable, both in enhancing one’s social life and improving gap-year and vacation employment potential.”
